4 Children Among 8 Eight Injured In Lake Shore Drive Crash On South Side

(STMW) -- Four children were among eight people who were injured Saturday afternoon when two minivans collided on Lake Shore Drive on the South Side.

The two minivans crashed about 4:25 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the 2600 block of South Lake Shore Drive, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez said.

One person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Hernandez said.

Two children were taken to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, while one child was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital and another was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Hernandez said. They were all in fair-to-serious condition.

Two adults were taken in fair-to-serious condition to University of Chicago Medical Center and another adult was taken in good condition to Mercy Hospital, Hernandez said.

Additional details on the crash were not immediately available Saturday evening.
