NWS Expects Chilly Monday With Light Snow Showers This Week

(STMW) -- Be wary, Chicago. Any snow that falls Sunday is not expected to accumulate much, but the National Weather Service said to prepare for a chilly Monday.

Snow was falling again early Sunday afternoon after a lull from the previous evening.

Saturday evening's snowfall made up most of the 1.6 inches measured about noon on Sunday at O'Hare International Airport, NWS Meteorologist David Beachler said. Sunday's flakes likely won't add more to that number.

"Mostly, the accumulation (Sunday) will be less than a half-inch," Beachler said. "It's light snow coming down—very gentle."

The pavement is warm enough to prevent snow from causing road problems, Beachler said.

A "dusting" may come through the area Sunday evening, Beachler said.

Snow showers are expected on and off this week, especially with the blast of cold air coming through on Monday, Beachler said.

Monday's high temperature is forecast at just 24 degrees, according to NWS. Wind chills Monday night could drop to 4 degrees below zero.
