CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were charged Tuesday with shooting a man in northwest suburban Mount Prospect in early November.

Julio Avila, 21, and Eduardo Castro, 18, were each charged Tuesday with a count of aggravated battery with a firearm, Mount Prospect police said in a statement.

On Nov. 5, police responded to the the corner of Algonquin Road and Dempster Street after someone reported hearing gunshots, the statement said. Officers found a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the arm.

His injury was not life-threatening and he was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, police said. Another man at the scene had a bullet hole through his clothing but was not hurt.

An investigation found that shots were fired out of a vehicle that Castro had been driving northwest on Algonquin, with Avila as a passenger, police said.

Avila, of the 5600 block of Tinder in Rolling Meadows, was ordered held on $300,000 bond, police said. Castro, of the 3005 block of Swallow Lane in Rolling Meadows, was ordered held on $150,000.

Both are scheduled to appear again in court on Dec. 12 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
