Man Stabbed, Two Others Hurt In West Ridge Attack

(STMW) -- A man was stabbed multiple times and two others were hurt in an attack early Saturday in the West Ridge neighborhood.

The 30-year-old man was outside about 2:10 a.m. in the 5700 block of North California when he got into an argument with another man over a woman, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said. The other man then pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man multiple times in the back and hand, Sedevic said.

He was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital and was later transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition.

Two other men were also attacked during the incident. A 27-year-old was struck on his head with a blunt object, Sedevic said. He was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital in good condition and was later transferred to Stroger Hospital.

Another man, 24, was hit in the arm with a golf club and taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection with minor injuries, Sedevic said. He is expected to be treated and released.

About two hours later, at 5 a.m., a man was shot dead in an alley about half a mile away in the 5700 block of North Campbell, police said.

Officers discovered the person with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police could not confirm if the two incidents were related.
