Coroner's Office Seeks Identity Of Woman In NW Indiana
(STMW) -- The Lake County coroner's office is asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who died Saturday in northwest Indiana.
The woman was taken to Methodist Hospitals Southlake Campus in Merrillville, where she was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement from the Lake County coroner's office.
She was "thrown from a vehicle" on New Year's Day in Gary, the coroner's office said.
Gary Police Sgt. Thomas Decanter said officers responded shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday to a call of a woman having a seizure in the 1700 block of Harrison Street.
The woman was pulled out of the vehicle, which was parked outside of a gas station, and subsequently taken to the hospital, Decanter said. Drugs are thought to have played a role in the woman's fatality. No foul play is suspected.
The unidentified black woman is between 30 and 40 years old, about 5-foot-6, 255 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, the coroner's office said. She has a heart and arrow shaped tattoo on her upper left arm that says "Pat."
