Report: John Fox-To-Bears Deal 'All But Done' As Negotiations Continue

(CBS) After a day of silence, it appears the Bears will get a deal done to make John Fox their new coach.

Fox's deal to come to Chicago is "all but done," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday morning. That echoes a Thursday report from Bleacher Report's Jason Cole that said Fox will become the Bears' new coach. Fox and the Bears are still negotiating but are "close" to being done, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported.

Fox has 13 years of experience as a head coach. His last four seasons were spent in Denver, where he led the Broncos to four straight AFC West titles and a Super Bowl appearance following the 2013 season. He was 46-18 in the regular season with the Broncos and 3-4 in the playoffs. Twice in the past three seasons, Denver was eliminated from the playoffs in the divisional round as a heavy home favorite, including Sunday in a 24-13 loss to Indianapolis.

Prior to his Denver tenure, Fox coached in Carolina for nine seasons, leading the Panthers to a 73-71 record in that span, two division titles and an appearance in the Super Bowl following the 2003 season.

Overall, Fox has compiled a 119-89 (.572) regular-season record and an 8-7 mark in seven playoff appearances. He's one of only six coaches to lead two different teams to the Super Bowl.
