Man Shot, Seriously Wounded Near Church In Back Of The Yards
(STMW) -- A man was shot and seriously wounded Sunday afternoon inside a church in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.
About 3:30 p.m., the 40-year-old was inside the church in the 1700 block of West 48th Street when someone outside fired shots into the building, authorities said.
Chicago Fire Department paramedics responded to the church for the shooting, said Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
The man was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, Langford said.
A police source said the man may have not been the intended target of the shooting.
