Winter Weather Advisory; More Snow For Southern Chicago Area

CHICAGO (CBS) -- As if more than a foot-and-a-half of snow over the weekend wasn't enough, more snow was on the way for the south suburbs, parts of the South Side, and northwestern Indiana from Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chicago time for Will, Kankakeee, Grundy, and LaSalle counties in Illinois; and Lake and Porter counties in Indiana.

Snowfall could be heavy at times, with accumulations of more than an inch an hour.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports the Alberta Clipper system moving east from Iowa could leave behind less than half an inch at Midway International Airport, nearly an inch in Gary, Indiana, up to 1.5 inches in Kankakee, and 2 inches or more in LaPorte and Rensselaer, Indiana.

Once this system moves out of the Chicago area, no more snow is expected until Sunday, though temperatures could drop below zero overnight, and then be no better than the teens on Thursday, before returning closer to normal this weekend, with temperatures of up to 35 on Saturday.
