Bears Hire Stan Drayton As Running Backs Coach

(CBS) The Bears have hired Stan Drayton as their new running backs coach, they announced Thursday afternoon.

A 22-year coaching veteran, Drayton spent the last four years working at Ohio State, where he helped the Buckeyes win the national title this past season. Under Drayon, Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott ran for 1,878 yards, third-most in the country and the second-most in school history.

Prior to his time at Ohio State, Drayton also worked collegiately at Florida (2005-'07, 2010), Syracuse (2009), Tennessee (2008), Mississippi State (2004), Bowling Green (2000 as special teams coach), Villanova (1996-'99), Pennsylvania (1995 as assistant running backs coach/director of operations), Eastern Michigan (1994 as graduate assistant) and Allegheny College (1993) in Pennsylvania. From 2001-'03, Drayton worked in the NFL as a quality control coach/special teams coach for the Packers.

Drayton graduated in 1993 from Allegheny College.

In a corresponding move, the Bears have informed former running backs coach Skip Peete that he won't be part of the team's staff in 2015.
