Jimmy Butler Strains Shoulder, Expected To Have MRI

By Cody Westerlund-

(CBS) Just when the Bulls thought they were healthy again with the return of forward Mike Dunleavy on Tuesday night after he missed 19 games with an ankle injury, they suffered another setback.

All-Star wing Jimmy Butler strained his right shoulder and didn't play in the second half of a 104-86 win against the Kings at the United Center. Butler initially injured the shoulder Sunday when it bent awkwardly when he tried to make a steal in Orlando.

It wasn't clear exactly how Butler aggravated the injury Tuesday, though he did run into at least one hard screen in the first half that couldn't have helped. Butler finished with five points on 2-of-8 shooting.

Butler will "probably" have an MRI on the shoulder Wednesday, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said.

"He's got soreness," Thibodeau said.

Thibodeau didn't have any further details, and Butler offered a short response in the postgame locker room.

"My shoulder hurt -- there's your update," Butler said.

The Bulls host the Cavaliers on Thursday. Butler's also been chosen to play in Sunday's All-Star Game in New York. His status for both remain unclear.
