Jimmy Butler Day-To-Day With Shoulder Strain

(CBS) Bulls wing Jimmy Butler's status for Thursday's home game against the Cavaliers remains uncertain after an MRI on Wednesday confirmed he has a right shoulder strain.

Butler is day-to-day, Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau said. Butler didn't partake in Wednesday's practice.

Butler has also been chosen to play in Sunday's All-Star Game in New York, assuming he's healthy.

Guard Kirk Hinrich will miss his third straight game Thursday because of turf toe. After missing 19 games with a right ankle jam, Mike Dunleavy returned to play in Tuesday's win against the Kings, and he should be good to go Thursday.

In any case, wing Tony Snell will likely continue to play a role for the Bulls and could get the start if Butler's out. Snell scored a career-high 24 points Tuesday, and Thibodeau spoke highly of his ability to contribute despite being yanked in and out of the rotation.
