Man Dies In West Englewood Shooting

(STMW) -- A man was fatally shot in the West Englewood neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 2:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 69th Place found the 26-year-old with a gunshot wound to the hip, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead an hour later, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

His name was not being released at 4:30 p.m. Sunday because his family had not yet been notified, the medical examiner's office said.

A police source said the man was a documented gang member.
