One Killed, Two Wounded In West Side Shooting

(STMW) -- Three men were shot — one fatally — on the West Side on Wednesday afternoon.

The men, ages 18, 20 and 24 were in a vehicle about 3:10 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Maypole when they were shot, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The 20-year-old, later identified as Demarcus Nelson, was shot in the arm and back, authorities said.

Nelson, of the 700 block of North St. Louis, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

The 18-year-old was shot in the face and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. The 24-year-old had been treated and released from Stroger as of Thursday morning.
