Levine: Chris Sale On His Way Back To Rotation

GLENDALE, Ariz. (CBS) -- White Sox nation breathed a little easier on Friday when the news of Chris Sale's bullpen work trickled out of spring training. Injured on Feb. 27 in an alleged box moving incident, Sale has progressed exactly the way the training staff projected he would.
Sale was Chicago's Opening Day starter the last two seasons, but he will begin the season on the DL. He will do more running drills on an underwater treadmill and progress out to fielding and PFP drills on the field early next week. Sale will try and get in at least one spring training performance before the White Sox leave Arizona on April 2.
"I'd like to," Sale said. "Of course, it's not my decision. I would like to face hitters before we get to the season for sure."
Feeling well after the side session was a huge barrier to hurdle today for Sale, who credited the White Sox training and medical staffs for his quick ascension back to the mound.
"No way I thought I would be throwing on a mound in three weeks," Sale confessed. "I really thought after three weeks I would be walking around and moving around and that would be it. This has actually turned around a lot quicker than I thought it would. Not to get ahead of myself, hopefully it keeps going that way and I will be out there pretty soon."
