Person Running From Police Hit By Car On Bishop Ford

(STMW) -- A person suspected of driving a stolen vehicle ran away from police onto the Bishop Ford Freeway, where he was hit by a car early Sunday on the Far South Side.

About 1 a.m., officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the 10500 block of South State, according to Chicago Police.

The driver, a male whose age wasn't available, led police on a chase to the 10000 block of South Indiana, where he crashed the vehicle, police said.

He then ran onto the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 and was struck by a car, according to Illinois State Police.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, a CPD spokeswoman said. The driver of the car that hit him wasn't hurt.

Charges were pending against him early Sunday.
