Blackhawks' van Riemsdyk Has Successful Wrist Surgery
(CBS) Blackhawks rookie defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk underwent successful surgery to repair his right wrist, repairing an injury which occurred in a game for Chicago's AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
The procedure was performed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago by Blackhawks team physician Dr. Michael Terry.
"Trevor underwent successful surgery today to repair a right wrist injury," Terry said in a statement. "The procedure went well and we expect a full recovery and a return to play in approximately eight weeks."
A 23-year-old rookie, van Riemsdyk recorded no goals and just one assist in 18 games with the Blackhawks, that after joining the team as a rather surprising training camp addition. He suffered a left patella fracture in November and has not played for the Blackhawks since, injuring himself again while working back with Rockford.
The Blackhawks are currently in action at United Center, facing the Minnesota Wild.
