Legendary Hot Doug's Is Making A (Brief) Return

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hot Doug's is coming back.

At least for one weekend this summer.

The owner of the insanely popular "encased meats emporium"--which closed last fall--will be reprising the restaurant for "The Dog Dayz of Summer" festival.

It's a new hot dog party, set for June 27-28 at Goose Island Barrel Warehouse, 605 N. Sacramento, that will offer folks a taste of the "best hits from Hot Doug's," according to the promoters.

"Since we closed last fall, the demand for a Hot Doug's comeback has been humbling," said Doug Sohn. "I'm excited to give fans another taste of Hot Doug's. This time in a laid-back party atmosphere."

Sohn will be curating a selection of his famous sausage sandwiches and duck fat fries. Goose Island will pour its latest summer and speciality beers.

Plus, there will be music, a combination of punk and country:

Saturday (Noon)

Bobby Bare Jr.
Freakwater

Saturday (5pm)

Archie Powell & The Exports
North by North
The Hitmaker

Sunday (Noon)

Bare Mutants
The Lawrence Peters Outfit

Sunday (5pm)

Bobby Bare Jr.
The Claudettes

Tickets can be purchased now by visiting www.dogdayzofsummer.com. The price includes Goose Island beer tickets, Hot Doug's sausages and duck fat fries.
