Cool Air To Stick Around Until Thursday, When Weekend Warmup Begins

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Were you grumbling about having to throw on a jacket or sweater when you headed out the door Tuesday morning? Don't worry, the chilly conditions will only be around a couple days.

Tuesday's expected high temperature of 53 degrees was nearly 20 degrees below normal for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday will be even chillier, with a likely high of 51. On top of that, both days will be mostly cloudy, with a possible shower on Wednesday, so it will feel more like late March than the middle of May.

Thankfully, Thursday will bring a return of sun and warm temperatures, with a high an expected high of 65.

That warming trend will continue to start the weekend, with highs in the mid 60s on Friday, the high 60s on Saturday, and the low 70s on Sunday and Monday. However, both Sunday and Monday will bring a chance of thunderstorms, so if you plan to cook out on the Memorial Day weekend, Saturday is probably your best bet.
