Triple Overtime Playoff Game Leaves Chicagoans With Hawks Hangover

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It took triple overtime for the Blackhawks to defeat the Anaheim Ducks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final, with the game finishing up at 1:08 a.m.

CBS 2's Jim Williams takes a look at that many of us have today: a Hawks hangover.

This was the question in Chicago today: Were you awake to see the Blackhawks win?

"I fell asleep," said Chantal Glass," Just too late."

Asked if she regrets not staying up, Glass said, "Absolutely."

Jason Johnston shut off the TV, but found himself playing a cat and mouse game in bed glued to his phone.

"Staring at my app," he said.

Youngster Hayden Smeaton stayed up through the very end. But, wait, you say, the game ended at 1:08 a.m.? Smeaton didn't have school Wednesday because of parent teacher conferences and says he was "really tired" when the game was over.

Chiampas, doctor for the U.S. Soccer team and the Chicago Marathon, says the Hawks will monitor their weight to check fluid loss and get treatment for bumps and bruises.

"When you look at hockey players, I think from an endurance perspective, from a toughness perspective, I think this is a unique breed," Dr. Chiampas said.

The Blackhawks knew their fans would be sluggish or perhaps late for work this morning so they offered a ready-made excuse slip on Twitter
