Blue Cross/Blue Shield Building Will Be Lit Up To Honor Blackhawks

Hawks Will Get A Nod With Window Lights

(CBS) -- When the Blackhawks come back to Chicago Monday for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final, they'll be greeted by one of the largest billboards ever: the south side of the 57-story Blue Cross/Blue Shield building.

It's all in the wrist – as easy as opening and closing window shades that will spell out a message in window lights on the side of a building.

ONE GOAL"It's not as complicated as people would think," says Michael Deering, a spokesperson for Blue Cross. Part of his job is coordinating what the building itself says.

"The electricians build a schematic and they block out each window, that is, the shades to remain open. And all the rest of the window shades will be closed," he says.

Usually, each one of the letters is between 5 and 10 stories tall, Deering says.

He hears from a lot of people willing to pay for a personal message.

"The thing that does get difficult is saying no to some requests. I get an awful lot of requests for 50-story marriage proposals," Deering says.

On Monday, the Blue Cross Blue Shield building will read: "One Goal 2015."
