Police: One Killed, One Wounded In South Chicago Shooting

(STMW) -- A man was killed and a woman was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 8400 block of South Saginaw found a man, 21, and a woman, 46, with gunshot wounds about noon, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that the man and woman were standing on Saginaw when an unknown male walked out of a gangway and fired shots in their direction, police said. Their wounds weren't known.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.

The woman was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
