1 Million Expected For This Weekend's Pride Parade

(CBS) – About 1 million people are estimated to line the four-mile Pride Parade route through Lake View and Uptown this weekend.

Organizer Richard Pfeiffer in part responsible for keeping the parade safe. To help accomplish that, there will be "several hundred" police officers along the route, not to mention 90 off-duty officers, Pfeifer says.

To discourage bad behavior, authorities are prepared to issue $1,000 tickets to people who drink alcohol on the public way.

"Celebration doesn't mean excess," Pfeiffer says.

The parade kicks off at noon Sunday at Montrose and Broadway.
