Free Dog Healthcare Clinic Held On West Side
(CBS) -- Nearly 200 West Side dogs received free health care and more during a three-hour clinic in the parking lot of the Austin district police station on West Madison Street.
WBBM's Bob Roberts reports the dogs ranged in size from poodles to pit bulls. For many, it was their first visit to a vet so the Animal Care League's Kira Robson said a full slate of services was available.

"So we are doing a distemper vaccine, we are doing a rabies vaccine, we are doing microchipping," Robson said. "We are fitting animals for harnesses. We are trying to get people to turn in their chains and choke collars and use harnesses, good leashes, good collars, so we have that set up. We've got some free food, free toys."
You could even make appointments to spay or neuter dogs. The Bickell Foundation picked up all costs relating to pit bulls.
It was so successful Robson says they plan to return next month.
