Toddler Dies In Apparent Drowning In Aurora

(CBS) -- An 18-month-old boy died in an apparent drowning Friday evening in Aurora, police said.

Police say Uriel Lopez's six-year-old sister found him in the backyard in a children's swimming pool floating face down around 8:40 p.m. Aurora paramedics arrived and performed CPR and Lopez was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police say it appears to be a tragic accident.

The family had just returned from the grocery store and was putting groceries away when the boy walked into the backyard and into the pool without anyone noticing, according to a preliminary investigation by police. He was only out of their sights for about five minutes, the family estimated.
