Dog's Bucket List Leads To Chicago

(CBS) – A New York family is fulfilling a very special and touching bucket list. It's brought them and their famous dog to Chicago.

CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports on why their special visit drew huge crowds.

They wait like groupies outside a hotel, for a kind of rock star. A rock star with four paws and a tail, whose tale leads through Chicago.

Thomas Neil Rodriguez knows them. They're "followers" of his dog Poh, through his Instagram account.

The lab mix, named after author Edgar Allen Poe, shares his road trips with about 118,000 followers, making recent stops at Michael Jackson's childhood home in Gary, Ind.; Millennium Park and Navy Pier. It's part of his big journey.

A journey that is coming to an end.

Rodriguez and his fiancee are spending those final moments traveling the nation with the shelter dog they adopted as an 8-week-old puppy.

It is sometimes difficult to watch the now 15-year-old because he needs help getting around. Poh travels in a cart and requires near-round-the-clock care.

Some question if this is best for the dog, but others meeting Poh and family in person come to a different conclusion.

"This is our therapy," Rodriguez says.
