Fun With Madden 16 Ratings: Little Respect For Bears, Especially Their Defense & Rookie Olsen Pierre

(CBS) Complete player ratings for EA Sports' Madden 16 were released Wednesday, and you know what that means.

It's time to dissect the virtual Bears.

It's not a pretty outlook for Chicago, which received a 75 overall team rating. That checks in as the fifth-worst mark on Madden 16, ahead of only Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Oakland and Tennessee. So, a virtual simulation isn't going to expect much out of the Bears this season.

Based on the individual rankings, EA Sports simply thinks the Chicago defense is bad. Only two Bears defensive players received a rating above 85 -- new edge rusher Pernell McPhee (87) and cornerback Tim Jennings (86). EA Sports is really down on several Bears defensive players who are listed as first-stringers on the real-life depth chart: defensive tackle Ego Ferguson (69), defensive end Jarvis Jenkins (72) and linebacker Christian Jones (65). Somewhat surprisingly (miraculously?), linebacker Shea McClellin netted a 78 rating.

On the flip side, the Chicago offense earns a fair deal of respect, with tight end Martellus Bennett (90), running back Matt Forte (90), receiver Alshon Jeffery (90), guard Kyle Long (88) earning lofty marks. Quarterback Jay Cutler received a 79 rating. (Backup Jimmy Clausen has a 72 rating, for those of you wondering.)

Rookie defensive lineman Olsen Pierre, a Miami product, has the lowest rating of any Bears player (59).
