NL Wild-Card Game Set For Oct. 7, While World Series Starts Oct. 27

(CBS) With the Cubs on track to reach the postseason for the first time since 2008, MLB playoff dates now carry greater relevance around these parts.

So Cubs fans, read carefully.

The National League wild-card game will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 7, MLB announced Monday. That game will be televised on TBS. The American League wild-card game will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Both National League Divisional Series will then begin Friday, Oct. 9, a day after the American League Divisional Series get underway.

The NLCS will start Saturday, Oct. 17. The World Series will start Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the home of the AL representative.

If the playoffs started today, the Cubs would face in the Pirates in Pittsburgh in the NL wild-card game.
