Police: Man Killed, Woman Injured In Brighton Park Shooting

(STMW) -- A man was killed and a woman was injured in a Brighton Park neighborhood shooting Saturday night on the Southwest Side, police said.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Albany found the 35-year-old man lying in the street, police said.

The man had suffered gunshot wounds to the right chest and arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The woman, 26, was standing on a porch nearby when she heard gunfire and realized she'd suffered a graze wound to the right thigh, police said. She was treated and released at the scene.

A police source said the man was a documented gang member.
