Bears Add QB Zac Dysert, Place RB Senorise Perry On IR

(CBS) The Bears have added a competitor to the backup quarterback mix.

Chicago has claimed Zac Dysert after Denver waived him Monday. Dysert spent the 2014 season on the Broncos' practice squad while Bears coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase were in Denver. Dysert was originally a seventh-round draft pick in 2013. He attended Miami of Ohio.

The addition of Dysert comes as Bears backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen continues to sit out with a concussion that he suffered last Saturday night in a loss to the Bengals. It's not clear when Clausen will be healthy. David Fales remains in the mix for a reserve quarterback job as well.

The news of the Bears adding Dysert was first reported by the Sun-Times' Adam Jahns.

In another acquisition, Chicago claimed tight end Gannon Sinclair off waivers as well. He's an undrafted free agent out of Missouri State.

The Bears also cut quarterback Shane Carden and guard Lucas Nix.

To reach the 75-man roster limit Tuesday, the Bears also placed running back Senorise Perry on the season-ending injured reserve list with a foot injury. He was serving as a core special teams player, which was thought to give him a quality chance to make the roster until the injury changed his fortunes.
