Bears Unveil New Soldier Field Food Items, Video Screens

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Football fans are in for some tasty upgrades at Soldier Field, reports WBBM's Mariam Sobh.

A soft opening was held Wednesday at the stadium to announce new menus and other upgrades that have happened recently. Fans will now be able to buy new food items whether they buy from concessions, at the suite or club level.

One of the new items on the menu is the Midway Monster, a Vienna Beef hot dog with a pretzel bun, stone ground mustard, corned beef and bacon caraway kraut.

"We listen to fan feedback," said Allison Hammer of Aramark, Soldier Field. "We also take local flavors and we kind of put it all together and try to give the fans what they want."

Other new food items include: bacon mac and cheese dog, Fritos pulled pork nachos, Beggars pizza, shaved hot pastrami, smoked sausage sliders, assorted flatbread pizza and crab salad.

There was also the opening of The Midway, a new sports bar type of venue for people who have tickets to attend during NFL games.

As for the video screen upgrades, Chris Hibbs, VP of sales and marketing for the Bears, says they are the highest quality in all of the NFL.

"Certainly our fans that come to the game on Sunday will be struck immediately by these gigantic new video boards, monster-sized video boards," Hibbs said.

Hibbs says the new video screens are three times bigger than the previous ones.
