Chicago Cops Save Life Of Girl, 2, Who Stopped Breathing
(CBS) -- Chicago police pulled over a speeding driver and helped save a young life, Saturday night.
A mother was racing to the hospital to get help for her two-year old daughter who was apparently choking on a piece of candy.
Police pulled the car over at Marquette and Union in Englewood. Several police officers helped the unconscious child and tried to clear the little girl's airway and were able to get her to breathe again.
"Officer Fritsche pulled her out of the car and saw that she wasn't responding so I took the baby and performed the Heimlich maneuver until the tac team got there, they had taken the baby and transported her to the hospital," said Officer Kelly Zupancic.
The two-year old is conscious and in stable condition at Saint Bernard Hospital.
