Arsonists Strike In Frankfort

(CBS) -- Arsonists are on the loose in southwest suburban Frankfort.

CBS 2's Jim Williams reports.

Over the weekend, three separate fires were started within minutes of each other at a condominium development.

Marc Molitor was on his deck when he saw the smoke Saturday night.

"I was hoping it was a grill or something, but being as black as it was, probably a good idea to take a look at what's going on," he says.

A vehicle parked in a driveway was on fire, with flames spreading up the side of the condo.  Molitor called 911.

Firefighters got there within a couple minutes. It took little time to put out the fire, but then a porch swing was engulfed in flames on the other side of the same condo.

A third fire was yards away on a porch.

Gary Schneider saw a flash of yellow from his living room.

"I yelled 'Fire, fire over here,'" he says.

The owner of the condo where the first two fires happened told CBS 2 off-camera she had no idea why her home was targeted. Neighbors say several cars in the complex have been vandalized in recent months.

No arrests have been made. Neighbors plan to keep their outdoor lights on, and they're demanding more security from the property manager.
