Antrel Rolle Passionately Expresses Support For Jay Cutler

(CBS) From one injured Bear to another, safety Antrel Rolle had big props for quarterback Jay Cutler after the latter played through a hamstring injury to lead Chicago to a 22-20 win against Oakland on Sunday, its first victory of the season.

Cutler was expected to miss two weeks after being injured in a Week 2 loss to the Cardinals but returned after missing just one week.

"The way he approaches the game and how he cares about the game and how he approaches practice, it's a bunch of little things -- when he had his hamstring (injury), that guy worked day in and day out," Rolle said in an interview on the Spiegel and Goff Show on Tuesday. "I saw that firsthand.

"That lets you know he wants to get back out there and be with his teammates. He wants to get back out there and be with his boys. Anytime you can find that in your quarterback, you're going to have a fighting chance. I think Jay gets criticized way too much, way too much.

"I don't know why people feel the way they feel."

For his part, Rolle had to leave Sunday's game early because of a right ankle injury that looked nasty. Luckily, X-rays came back negative, and Rolle intends to return soon.

"I'll be out there in no time," Rolle said. "It will just be a little time, then I'll be back to normal.

"It happens. I'll be fine. I'll be back in no time."

That time wasn't expected to be Wednesday, though. Asked if he was returning to the Bears' next practice, Rolle had to chuckle.

"Did you see the play where I was rolled up?" Rolle said. "Would you practice tomorrow?"
