Made In Chicago: Legoland Discovery Center

(CBS) -- The first "Lego Movie" is driving visitors to Chicago's Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg.

David Howard is the Center's Master Model Builder. He says the movie has sparked more interest in the iconic building bricks.

"The Lego Movie definitely helped with people's interest in Lego bricks and building and just the overall product. And it's really nice seeing so many new fans," he said.

Howard says Lego are enduringly popular.

"They are definitely the toy of the century," he said. "They have stood the test of time and I think it's because it's the basic principle of using your imagination and building."

Howard has built countless Lego models at the Legoland Discovery Center. Among his favorites:

"I built a four-foot-tall monster that was attacking our 'Mini-land' display which we have a whole display built entirely out of Lego bricks at the Discovery Center of Chicago and I had this monster attacking all the buildings and that was probably one of my favorite builds," he said.
