Family Of Suburban Girl Makes Social-Media Appeal To Recover Prized Possession

(CBS) -- Many of us have a sentimental possession that means everything: an heirloom watch, a photograph, a ring.

For a child it could be a blanket or a pacifier.

CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports on a Mount Prospect girl who lost her everything and can't say the words.

Annie's security blanket, if you will, is her mom's old bathing suit top. Recent photos demonstrate this: There is Annie with the blue bathing suit top on a horse, with Santa Claus, and so on.

"When she doesn't have it (she) freaks out," says Jeff Beaumont, Annie's dad.

It's hard to say how much it means. Annie, 13, is non-verbal and has Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. Symptoms include anxiety and self-harm.

The bathing suit was lost as the family flew out of O'Hare International Airport last week. The girl's aunt posted on Facebook in hopes of finding the security item. Even though it's been shared hundreds of times, no one's found it yet.
