Aurora Police Investigating Stabbing, Fatal Shooting Outside Bar

(CBS) -- Aurora Police are investigating a shooting and a stabbing outside a bar that left a 36-year-old man dead and a 22-year-old man injured early Saturday morning.

Police say the responded to a call of shots fired in the parking lot of a bar, La Quinta De Los Reyes, in the first block of East New York Street at approximately 1:40 a.m. and found around 100 people shouting and fighting. Police believe that two groups of people began fighting outside after a large party inside the bar when shots rang out.

Marcus Holland, 36, was found lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter immediately fled the scene, police said.

Within moments of the shooting, police say a 22-year-old man was stabbed just outside the restaurant. Police say the suspect in the stabbing is a man in his early 20s, approximately 5'10" and weighing 150-170 pounds wearing a black, white, and red hooded sweatshirt and a white shield on the front.

The man who was stabbed was transported to an Aurora hospital where he was treated and released.

Police are investigating to see if the two incidents are related and say that most of the people at the scene were not cooperating.
