West Town Woman Stabbed During Carjacking Speaks Out

(CBS) -- In a popular neighborhood on Chicago's North Side, a viscous assault and carjacking left a woman badly beaten and stabbed.

The victim now out of the hospital is speaking out. She spoke to CBS 2's Susanna Song just as police located her vehicle.

Marlene Ho was heading into her West Town home when two young teens walked up to her.

"Next thing I know, the kid says you're going to give me your purse, you're going to give me your keys, you're going to give me your car," she said. "I was just like no."

She was stabbed with a knife, twice in the head and once in her lower back.

"This is crazy for a kid that young to want to hurt," Marlene said.

The teens drove off in her Acura RDX. That was Thursday. On Monday night, she got a call from police that they found her car. The teenagers left behind some coats, a bag, shoes and even some socks in the SUV's trunk.

She got most of her things back, even her wallet, but not her sense of security. Marlene says she was surprised they were so young.

"It's really hard for me to wrap my head around it," she said.

The trauma won't push her out. She has a community of support. Just being vulnerable right now, helps her cope.

"The next step toward healing, because you can't do it by yourself," she said.

In a strange twist, police arrested and charged two girls, 16 and 17 years old, with trespassing and possession of a stolen vehicle. It's unclear if they were the actual ones who carjacked Marlene Ho.
