6 Wounded In Shootings Across Chicago On Wednesday

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six people were wounded in shootings across Chicago Wednesday.

Most recently, a man was shot during a robbery Wednesday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 29-year-old was walking in the 6200 block of South Stewart at 11:37 p.m. when an armed male emerged from an alley and robbed him, Chicago Police said. The victim was shot during the robbery, and the suspect ran off with a bag of food the victim had purchased earlier.

The man was taken to St. Bernard's Hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper right back and right hand, police said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

About half an hour earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man was leaving his home in the 3000 block of West Madison Street at 11:05 p.m. when someone in an alley fired shots, hitting him in the right shoulder, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Two hours before that, a man was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 38-year-old man was shot in the left hand in the 1600 block of North Albany about 9:05 p.m., police said. The man noticed a car following him in traffic and when it came to a stop at the mouth of an alley, someone inside fired shots. He took himself to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

About 15 minutes earlier, a 58-year-old man was shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The man was shot about 8:50 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Claremont, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

Five minutes before that, a man was hurt in a drive-by shooting in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 32-year-old was walking in the 4300 block of North Lavergne about 8:45 p.m. when someone in a passing dark-colored SUV shot him twice in the right arm, police said. He was taken to Community First Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

Wednesday's first shooting happened in the North Side Uptown neighborhood about three hours earlier.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the 900 block of West Agatite Avenue at 5:45 p.m., police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
