Seven Wounded In Thursday Shootings In Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Seven people were wounded in shootings across Chicago on Thursday.
The latest attack happened about 9:15 p.m. in the Pilsen neighborhood on the South Side.
A 40-year-old man was in his vehicle at a stop sign in the 900 block of West Cullerton when a gold car pulled alongside him and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
He was hit in the left arm and drove himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, police said.
About an hour earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded in Bridgeport.
The teen was standing near an alley just before 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 32nd Place and arguing with three other males who were in a small black car when he was shot in the right shoulder, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
A late afternoon drive-by left a 35-year-old man wounded in East Garfield Park on the West Side.
The man told investigators was walking in the 800 block of South California about 5:30 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots and he was hit in the left arm. He took himself to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
About 1:40 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot in Englewood's 7100 block of South Wolcott. His condition was stabilized at Holy Cross Hospital, police said.
At 12:51 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the hand in the 9100 block of South Laflin in Washington Heights, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.
Thursday morning, a 37-year-old man was shot while driving in Uptown on the North Side. Two gunmen walked up and fired shots about 5 a.m. in the 900 block of West Winona, hitting him in the hand, arm and chest, police said. He drove himself to Weiss Memorial Hospital and was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition.
The day's first shooting happened about 2:20 a.m. on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 79th Street on the South Side. An 18-year-old woman was a passenger in a vehicle that was chased onto I-94 by another vehicle after the two groups got into an argument near the 7900 block of South Lafayette, according to Illinois State Police. Someone inside the chasing vehicle fired multiple shots, hitting her once in the chest. She was driven to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park where her condition was stabilized, and then transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center, state police said.
