Police: Range Of Scenarios Being Considered In Gage Park Massacre

(CBS) – There are still so many unanswered questions about last week's mass murder in the Gage Park neighborhood.

Six members of one family – spanning three generations – were discovered slain last Thursday.

People continue to stop by the growing memorial. The family is receiving assistance from Chicago Survivors.

The organization released a statement Monday thanking the public for "their outpouring of concern over the tragic deaths." It's working with the Mexican consulate to help the families.

While police sources said over the weekend they were considering the possibility that a drug cartel was involved, the official police response is much broader.

"Everything from a domestic incident, possible robbery or even possibly something nefarious that could have targeted the family is being explored," Chicago Police Department Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy says.

Efforts continue to transport the remains of the victims to Mexico.
