Southwest Airlines Cancels Departures At Midway Airport

CHICAGO (CBS) -- As a heavy snowstorm descends on Chicago, Southwest Airlines has canceled the remainder of its Wednesday departures from Chicago's Midway International Airport.

"As the storm moves, our planners will make any necessary adjustments to the schedule to ensure the safety of the airline's employees and customers," said spokesman Dan Landson.

Across its system, the airline has canceled a total of 400 flights, out of the normally scheduled 3,600.

The South Side of Chicago is expected to get 4 to eight inches of snow, combined with high winds.
