2 Killed, 2 Wounded In Thursday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and at least two other people were wounded in Thursday shootings on the South and West sides.
The latest homicide happened Thursday afternoon, when a man was shot to death in the South Shore neighborhood, police said.
The 27-year-old man was standing with a group on a corner in the 2300 block of East 78th Street at 4:53 p.m. when someone opened fire. He was shot once in the back and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
About 12 hours earlier, a man was found shot to death in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The man, whose exact age was not immediately known, was found lying unresponsive on the ground in the 4600 block of West Monroe about 4:50 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the side of the head, according to Chicago Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the deaths Thursday.
The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The 32-year-old was driving in the 1200 block of North Campbell about 6:45 p.m. when someone walking nearby opened fire. He was shot in the arm and shoulder and drove to the 2400 block of West Division, where his vehicle crashed into a parked car, police said.
Paramedics were called and the man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
Early Thursday morning, a man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The 22-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 5100 block of West Chicago at 12:25 a.m. when he heard shots and realized he'd been hit. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg, police said. His condition was stabilized.
