Bears Re-Sign TE Rob Housler To 1-Year Deal

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) Looking to secure depth, the Bears re-signed tight end Rob Housler to a one-year deal Monday.

There's uncertainty at the tight end position, with the Bears shopping Martellus Bennett and attempting to re-sign Zach Miller, who reportedly visited the Rams on Sunday. Adding Housler gives the Bears flexibility at the tight end position.

The Bears signed Housler on Dec. 8, the day in which Bennett was placed on season-ending IR with a ribs injury. Housler was Chicago's starter at tight end during Week 17, recording two catches for 18 yards. He had four receptions on the season, including one with the Browns during Week 5.

Housler, 27, is a five year NFL veteran who has caught 109 passes for 1,166 yards and a touchdown.
