Chicago Businessman Shares What It's Like To Work For Donald Trump

CHICAGO (CBS) -- We see every day what Donald Trump is like on the campaign trail, but what's he like as a businessman?

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole talked with a local man who has called him boss for the better part of a decade.

Of the 650 workers bringing the luxury lifestyle to guests at Chicago's Trump International Hotel, one knows the boss especially well.

"Quite frankly, he is very much like he is on TV," says Colm O'Callaghan. "It's not like he's a different person when you meet him in private."

O'Callaghan has been a Chicago-based vice president of Trump Hotels for a decade. Their private time includes long discussions quarterly about the tower's operations driving in from O'Hare.

"On the way in from the airport he peppers me non-stop with questions about performance," he says.

O'Callaghan says Trump has input on decisions big and small here.

"If we are buying a few thousand televisions, that's a deal he wants to get involved in," he says.

O'Callaghan says Trump doesn't like taking no for answer but he is willing to listen and "always open to discussion."

In an unconventional run for the White House, critics have called Trump brash and a bully

"He has always been a very gracious, engaging person, makes time for everybody," O'Callaghan says. "I found it quite remarkable in terms of his energy and his enthusiasm for looking for new ideas."

Another insight from O'Callaghan: he says the Trump children, when preparing for a work meeting with their father, make sure they are dressed formally for the presentation.
