WATCH: Nick Offerman And Stephen Colbert Present Minooka's Community Calendar

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Southwest suburban Minooka took a few good-natured pokes Monday night when hometown star Nick Offerman was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and the two presented some events from the village's community calendar.

Offerman, a comedian born in Joliet and raised in Minooka, said his grandfather was once the mayor of Minooka, and his family still lives there.

Colbert and Offerman put their own twist on some of the goings on in Minooka, from a Grundy County Chamber of Commerce workshop on networking business cards to an April 28 seminar the state's medical marijuana law.

"There will be a seminar on medical marijuana for police officers held at the Minooka fire station. The police station was unavailable, because they're hosting a seminar on ladder safety for firemen," Offerman said.

Colbert also poked fun at a local seafood restaurant.

"Love seafood from the Midwest? Then head on over and try the new menu items at the Shrimp Barn restaurant; like cinnamon apple fritters, or their signature dish: barn-raised shrimp," he said.

Minooka Village President Patrick Brennan said he doesn't mind a little bit of fun at the village's expense.

"No doubt about it. We have a great community, and we like a little laugh once in a while, and that was really fun," he said.

Besides he said, "it kind of put us on the map a little bit."
