Snubbed Birthday Boy Shares Wealth Of Gifts With Other Kids
(CBS) -- Gerald Hamilton of Lake Station, Ind. is the boy CBS 2 profiled earlier this month when no one showed up for his birthday party.
Since then, the outpouring of kindness has been so extensive the 9-year-old is now giving back.
CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports that Gerald has been snowed under with cards and gifts, including a note personally signed by the chairman of the Chicago Bears. "Your friend, George McCasky," it says.
Indiana Pacers great Reggie Miller gave him tickets to a game, Gerald's grandmother, Amelia Lara, says.
On Thursday, Gerald wanted to share his riches. So, he went to a River Forest school to offer gifts to other kids.
The children were elated when he showed up with a bounty of toys for them. One boy even called it a "miracle."
He hopes to one day deliver more gifts to the hospital where he had his surgeries.
