No-Brainer: Bears Exercise Option To Keep Kyle Long Through 2017

(CBS) In news that came as no surprise, the Bears exercised their fifth-year option on three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Kyle Long's rookie contract that will keep him in Chicago through 2017.

The Bears had long made clear that Long is part of their core moving forward. After being selected 20th overall in the 2013 draft, Long made the Pro Bowl as a right guard in each of his first two seasons. He moved to right tackle just before the 2015 season started. He wasn't as comfortable there but still played well enough to receive Pro Bowl honors.

With the signing of tackle Bobby Massie in March, the Bears now plan to move Long back to right guard.

Long has started 47 career games.
