New Play At North Side Theatre Tells Story Of United Flight 232 Crash

(CBS) -- A tragic day has been transformed into a touching drama at a North Side theatre.

"United Flight 232" at the House Theatre of Chicago, is the story of the DC-10 that was on its way to Chicago in July, 1989 and crashed in Iowa, 112 people died, 184 survived

Brenda Barrie plays one of the heroic flight attendants.

She tells WBBM some have asked the basic question: "Why do a play about a plane crash?" But she says the play is very respectful.

"Just the humanity of it all," Barrie says. "I just found that we have a tremendous responsibility to do this story right for this who were impacted by this flight."

Many of those who were impacted have come to see the play and say they are greatly touched by it.
