Mayor Emanuel Bristles At Critics Who Say Chicago Not Doing Enough To Fund Schools

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some Republicans in Springfield have criticized legislation that would change the way education money is distributed because they say it does too much for Chicago when the city isn't doing enough for itself.

The mayor bristled at suggestions the city go it alone.

"How about this…give us back all our money and then you go on your way," Emanuel said. "You don't get to participate in O'Hare. You don't get to participate in all the educational institutions of higher ed here. I don't think that's a deal the state wants to cut."
