Inmate, 73, Serving Life Sentence At Stateville Dies

JOLIET (CBS) -- A 73-year-old inmate serving a life sentence at the Stateville Correctional Center died Tuesday night of natural causes.

J.B. Boston was serving a life sentence for rape, home invasion and armed robbery, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.

He began serving his sentence in 1985.

Boston, who was on medical furlough, was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, according to IDOC records and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy found he died of heart disease and obesity, and his death was ruled natural, according to the medical examiner's office.

An IDOC spokesperson only confirmed that Boston died at an outside hospital Tuesday.
